What’s Better: One Large Window or Several Smaller Windows?

If you have a space that you’re looking to add a window to, you definitely have some options – especially if you’re going through Arch City Window. One of the decisions you have to make is whether you want one large window, several small windows, or a combination of the two. This can be a tricky decision, and the answer will rely on your personal preference. There are pros and cons to both sides.

Let’s start with a large window first. If you have just one large window, you will have more glass. Fewer windows means fewer frames, and fewer frames means more space for glass. As a result, you’ll get more light in as well as an unobstructed view. Nobody likes having an awesome view with a frame going through the middle of it!

Another benefit of having a large window is that when you open it, you get a large amount of airflow coming in. Again, by having multiple windows and window frames, you’ll have less area that will be available for a breeze to go through.

However, there is a flip side to that last point. When you have multiple windows, you can usually open them further, which brings in even more air. You also get more options. If you want some air but not a lot, you can simply open one window. Having multiple windows give you a lot more of a variety of what you can do with them.

When you have several windows, you can leave wall space in between them that will give you the ability to add things to your wall and make your home more personal. You obviously can’t do that with a huge window, unless you want to put things on the window itself!

If the wall you’re looking at gets a lot of sunlight, you need to consider how that will affect the temperature in your room. A big window that gets a lot of sunlight will significantly heat up the space. Smaller windows will still get warm, but not as much, which could make you more comfortable.

The third option is to have a combination, such as a solid picture window that’s flanked by two smaller windows that can be opened. This gives you a good view through an unobstructed window while still having access to fresh air through your side windows.
